Its a country tune plain and simple. Not so plain and simple...I had that fiddleesque melody line, a bass line and a really bad cold which blocked access to my usual array of singing voices.

This craggy 70 year old hillbilly came out of me. Pining and desperate., perfect. I liked him singing the tune and gave him a larger bellowing partner. We'll call them the Delmarva Ramblers. They also make an appearance on "Holy Erection".

I'm usually disdainful of culturally appropriated vocal affectations. I find them to be a cheap solution to a lack of authenticity or a plastic substitute for life experience in the performer. A white suburban kid doing a Black blues inflection, for example, is a nauseating turn off for me. If i find myself going there, it is an easy trap to fall into, I turn myself around right quick. I didn't turn around this time, I'm happy with the result. Maybe the kids are alright.
